Eric Pride heads, together with his wife Lady Christie, a structured lifestyle household in New York. The primary focus of the household is on integrating healthy power-exchange dynamics into daily life and to provide guidance, training, and support for its individuals. He enjoys consensual S&M, blogs on different aspects of the lifestyle, and gives presentations on alternative lifestyle relationships, structured living, S&M, ritual, and spirituality.

In addition, he has an interest in psychic phenomena and gives demonstrations on telepathy, clairvoyance, psychometry, psychic readings, and other ESP experiments. He believes we all have this ability – we just have to develop and nurture it.

Enough denial. Enough pointing fingers. Enough victim-blaming. Enough throwing the abuse word around too freely. Enough turning a blind eye. Enough confusing BDSM with abuse. Enough ruining reputations. Enough not knowing where scenes begin and end. Enough being afraid to talk about it. Enough.

Let’s be done with all those things! This interactive presentation will focus on varied issues pertaining to the myths and realities of abuse that occurs within the BDSM lifestyle. We’ll start off with some basic definitions about what abuse is, and equally important, what it isn’t. What differentiates it from shitty fighting? And, do the same definitions hold when we talk about abuse in the lifestyle? Is there a difference between abuse in vanilla relationships and abuse in the lifestyle? Might what some people call abuse be just a scene gone bad? Why isn’t abuse always easily recognizable?

Other issues to be considered: What are warning signs of abuse? Whose fault is it? Where do concepts of SSC and RACK fit in? How can people protect themselves from either abuse or being accused of being abusive? What should you know about your partner’s history? What would you do if you thought someone was being abused/abusive? Why are we talking about this at all?

And most importantly–
How do you we keep ourselves and play partners happy without sacrificing hotness and eroticism and control in our scenes and BDSM relationships–whether that is for a scene, a night, a month, or a lifetime?

*About the presenter: Ldydreaming (“~C”) has spent over 25 years working with both abuse survivors and perpetrators as a therapist and/or supervisor of other therapists in this work. She believes discussions about abuse are often complicated in the vanilla world and fraught with misconceptions. And, given the complexities of BDSM, this is even more the case in the lifestyle.
